Key Milestone Reached as RSG Floods Amaala Marina
Riyadh, 31 Jan 2024: Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind the regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and Amaala, has completed the flooding of Amaala's marina basin in a crucial milestone as the destination starts coming to life.
With the marine now flooded with Red Sea water, RSG is starting development of other key marina works, such as the pontoons, and testing operational aspects of the marina.
The marina serves as a centerpiece of Triple Bay at Amaala, designed to cater to all the needs of the marina village. It boasts a surface area of 107,680 m2 and a basin volume of approximately 950,000 m3. The quay wall length spans an impressive 1.8km and is composed of 3,760 blocks. The marina can accommodate yachts up to 130 meters in length.
Featuring various marina facilities such as the Amaala Yacht Club, featuring steps (MLH), submarine access for Corallium, Amaala’s marine life institute, and pontoons for private vessels and water taxis, Amaala is set to redefine luxury living by the sea.
RSG’s expert team successfully continued work in the zones surrounding the marina at the same time as marina works were carried out, in line with the original design and the designer's recommendation. This intelligent approach ensured efficiency and effectiveness.
During the construction process of the marina, a dedicated concrete batching plant on site was in place for casting the quay wall blocks, with an average rate of 30 blocks per day. These blocks were then placed and sorted in a dedicated precast yard before being transferred to the site for final placement.
Additionally, a dewatering system was in operation, consisting of 180 dewatering wells. A sustainable approach was followed, respecting the environmental requirements by collecting all water in a settling basin to be filtered before returning it back to the open sea in specific locations.
