Landscape Nursery
Overview
At over 1 million square meters, our Landscape Nursery is the largest in the region. It is part of our planet-first approach to enriching the natural environment around us and setting new standards for sustainable development.
It has been operational since 2020. To date, we have grown more than 5 million plants to landscape our destinations, The Red Sea and AMAALA, and 30 million will be grown by 2030. The nursery features diverse local plants, flowers, and other vegetation. Any new species introduced is carefully planned and follows comprehensive evaluations to guarantee harmonious integration with the existing flora and fauna.
Around 350 people work at the nursery, with 40% being Saudis from the local community.

Landscape Nursery design
The plants grown in the nursery are predominantly native species that are fully adapted to the climate and conditions around the destination, both coastal and inland. Additional desert-dwelling species may be included, after ensuring that any imported species will co-exist comfortably with the local flora and fauna.
The nursery provides two to three growing seasons per year, during which trees, shrubs, and plants are propagated, matured, and acclimatized. Turfgrass is also grown for the destination’s championship golf course, hotels, and residential properties.
The destination’s treatment plant is supplementing irrigation water for the Landscape Nursery, while a composting unit turns organic-rich waste into compost to be used for the nursery. Six water tanks also support the nursery, each with a capacity of 18,000m3.
Four shade houses have also been constructed. Two provide 70% shading and the other two provide 40%, with each around 31,320m2.
