Ecotecture Design Competition offered students of architecture schools in Saudi universities a unique opportunity to contribute to its luxury project by submitting innovative architectural and urban design solutions for the project’s community center located in the coastal village.
The innovative solutions will be implemented as part of our efforts to aesthetically design the coastal village components while adhering to enhanced sustainability principles and contribute to the project’s ecosystem.

    To enter, you must visit the resigtration page and click on “Participate”, and complete the entry form with the required information, including your name; telephone number; email address; and college or institution’s name and ID number, along with a scanned copy of a valid college or institution ID.

    Write an introduction to the project explaining the idea of the proposed design. Provide analysis of the site including its relationship to the surrounding area, the environmental diversity and the historical value of the region. Design drawing of the concept. Provide realistic architectural perspective renders.

    In round one, a panel will be selecting a total of ten participants from among all eligible applications, based on the following judging criteria: Concept, Design, Presentation and Details; In round two, participants who were selected in round one are requested to send any additional material; and in round three, the Panel will select 3 winners.

    Awards

    The winner in first place shall receive a monetary prize of  SAR 25,000 (twenty-five thousand Saudi Riyals), the winner in second place shall receive a monetary prize of SAR 15,000 (fifteen thousand Saudi Riyals) and the winner in third place shall receive a monetary prize of SAR 10,000 (ten thousand Saudi Riyals).

  • Submission Requirement: - Write an introduction to the project explaining the idea of the proposed design (Does not to exceed 500 words). - Provide analysis of the site including its relationship to the surrounding area, the environmental diversity and the historical value of the region. - Determine the components of the project and the survey program. - Determine environmental, safety, and accessibility requirements. - Design drawing of the concept. - Provide general site coordination drawings. - Provide plans of the key elements of the project. - Provide front, back and side elevations drawings. - Provide sectional drawings clarifying levels. - Provide realistic architectural perspective renders.
  • Judging Criteria: - Creativity, artistic sense, impact and significance. - Achieved scientific and/or engineering concepts or solutions proposed in the brief. - Adherence to the standards of sustainability and environmental preservation in all submitted designs - The operational costs of the proposal submitted taking into consideration the technical regulations and project site conditions. - The extent of the contestant's ability to provide realistic 3D images and graphics. - The applicant's ability to completely submit the proposed project by the specified date.   • The Red Sea Development Company ("Company", "We”) is a closed joint stock company incorporated under the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, having its principal office at the 4th and 5th floor, Building MU04, ITCC Complex, Al Raidah Digital City, Al Nakhil District 3807, Riyadh 12383-6726 Saudi Arabia. By participating in this Ecotecture design competition (the ”Competition”), you acknowledge that you have read and understood and agree to adhere to these terms and conditions (the “Terms”). The Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to amend or change any of the Terms at any time without prior notice, and by participating in the Competition you agree to these modified Terms.
  • 1.1 To enter, you must visit www.theredsea.sa and click on “Participate”, and complete the entry form with the required information, including your name; telephone number; email address; and college or institution’s name and ID number, along with a scanned copy of a valid college or institution ID. 1.2 You may participate either as an individual or as a team. Each team member must provide the information required in the entry form, as set out in 1.1 above. 1.3 The Company reserves the right and at its absolute discretion, to request certain information relating to your participation in the Competition including proof of identity, age and address. 1.4 Only participation through the website will be eligible for entry in the Competition. Other forms of participation will not be accepted. 1.5 You may only submit one application. Your application must comply with the Company’s requirements and instructions, along with these Terms. 1.6 Approved applications will be judged in accordance with the judging criteria as set out in section (4) below. The final and full submission of the designs must be submitted and received by the 10th of October 2020 at 11:59 p.m. KSA time. Submissions will not be accepted after this date. 1.7 You must submit your design by using your own email address submitted at the time of application.
  • 2.1 The Competition registration shall commence on the 20th of July 2020 at 08.00 a.m. until the 22nd of August 2020 at 11:59 p.m. KSA time. Registrations shall not be accepted after this date. 2.2 Participants who are eligible to take part in the competition shall receive an acceptance email from the Company containing the design criteria by the 27th of August 2020. Applicants who have registered but who have been deemed not eligible to participate will not be informed.
  • 3.1 The Competition is open for all students who are actively registered in public or private Saudi Architecture colleges or institutions and graduates from such colleges and institutions within the last 12 months. 3.2 Any entry shall be deemed void in the event participation in the Competition conflicts with the laws of Saudi Arabia or with your college or institutions’ requirements. 3.3 The following persons are not eligible to enter into the Competition: employees of the Company and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) or persons living in the same households of such employees, whether or not they are related.
  • 4.1 The Competition consists of three (3) rounds: (a) In round one, a panel comprised of Company representatives (the “Panel”) will be selecting a total of ten (10) participants from among all eligible applications, based on the following judging criteria: Concept (15%), Design (40%), Presentation (30%) and Details (15%); (b) In round two, participants who were selected in round one are requested to send any additional material to TRSDC Headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (address referenced above); and (c) In round three, the Panel will select 3 winners. 4.2 The Panel’s decisions as to any matter relating to the Competition, including but not limited to any application eligibility or choosing the winners, will be final and binding. 4.3 Winners shall be notified by email and publicly announced by the end of October 2020.
  • 5.1 The winner in first place shall receive a monetary prize of SAR 25,000 (twenty-five thousand Saudi Riyals), the winner in second place shall receive a monetary prize of SAR 15,000 (fifteen thousand Saudi Riyals) and the winner in third place shall receive a monetary prize of SAR 10,000 (ten thousand Saudi Riyals). 5.2 Participants who were chosen in round one may receive certificates, or other non-monetary prizes at the Company’s sole discretion. 5.3 The winning designs shall be displayed at the Company’s offices, on social media channels, events or any other medium at the Company’s sole discretion. 5.4 The winner will not be entitled to more than one prize.
  • 6.1 The Company reserve the right (without accepting any responsibility or granting you any compensation) to exclude you from participating in the Competition and/or withhold or withdraw the prize (at its sole discretion) in the event: 6.1.1 You violate these Terms at any time (whether it was discovered during or after the end of the Competition); 6.1.2 Your behavior was inappropriate or contrary to the spirit or the purpose of these Terms or the Competition; 6.1.3 You commit or carried out any fraud, breach of trust, deception, misconduct, or similar act including providing any wrong or incorrect information; or 6.1.4 Your participation was incomplete, incomprehensible, invalid, delayed, or inconsistent with these Terms or any specific rules.
  • 7.1 You agree, acknowledge and hold harmless and protect the Company and Its affiliate, officials, managers, employees, contractors, agents and licensees from any and all liabilities, from claims, losses, damages, injuries, or disappointment as a result of your participation in the Competition or any activities related to the Competition, and the acceptance, use, misuse or possession of any prize granted in this Competition. 7.2 In the event that what is presented by you contains material or elements that you do not own and/or is subject to the rights of the third parties and/or if there are individuals appearing in it, you will be responsible for obtaining, prior to submitting your application, a discharge and necessary approvals to allow for such use and display. 7.3 You agree, acknowledge and hold harmless, fully indemnify and protect the Company and Its affiliate, officials, managers, employees, contractors, agents and licensees from any and all liabilities of any violation of intellectual property rights, privacy or any other rights of any third party. 7.4 The Company will not bear any responsibility in the event wrong or inaccurate information was provided, or human errors, technical faults, loss or delay in the transmission of data has occurred. 7.5 You are not entitled to file a claim in connection with this Competition against the Company or its affiliated entities, to the extent that there is no direct contractual relationship between you and those entities. 7.6 You undertake and warrant that all material submitted by you will not contain anything improper, defamatory, or contain defamation, obscene, offensive words, or harassment.
  • 8.1 If the Competition cannot be completed as planned for any reason out of the Company’s control in a way that affects or prejudices the administration, safety, fairness or integrity of the Competition or its proper implementation, the Company has the right to cancel, end, suspend or amend the Competition, including any decisions of the Panel and any monetary prize.
  • 9.1 Intellectual property rights means an invention, utility model, trade mark, service mark, business name, work which is the subject matter of copyright or related rights, industrial design, patent, know-how, trade secret and any other intellectual property right of any nature whatsoever throughout the world (whether registered or unregistered and including all applications and rights to apply for the same) 9.2 By registering in the Competition, you agree to and acknowledge the following: 9.2.1 The grant and transfer all your rights, interests and intellectual property in all works submitted by you for the purpose of the Competition (including current and future copyrights) and whether they are present or will exist in the future to the Company; 9.2.2 All intellectual property rights in any work created or submitted by yourself are exclusively owned by the Company; 9.2.3 You will sign all documents and do all other acts which the Company requests to enable the Company to enjoy the full benefits of this section (10); 9.2.4 You will refrain from claiming ownership rights or any moral rights to the work which is the subject matter of copyright, or any derivative, compilation, sequel or series, or related work either created by yourself or the Company in connection with the Competition; 9.2.5 You have the right, power and authority to grant the above rights and you have obtained all necessary approvals and authorizations to grant Us these rights; 9.3 For the avoidance of doubt, all rights granted in the name and ownership of the Competition and the Competition model are the sole proprietorship of the Company and can be used in the Company’s sole discretion.
  • 10.1 You agree that all personal data, including your name and address, can be processed, shared and used for the purposes and within the scope of the Competition and for any other purposes indicated in these Terms. This data can also be used by the company to verify the identity, postal address, phone number, and your eligibility to participate in the Competition. 10.2 You agree and undertake to maintain the confidentiality of any information you have received or may receive regarding the Company, its business or the Competition.
  • 11.1 You agree that you will not disclose or publish any information that you have received during your participation in the Competition or any work or information submitted by yourself until the issuance of the judgment and winners are announced. 11.2 You may be asked to participate in promotional activities after completion of the Competition , and the Company has the right to use or publish the names and contact information of the winners, their image, audio and/or video recordings in any advertisement, on social media, or any other form of media, whether for promotional purposes or otherwise.
  • 12.1 You agree and understand that the Company will not bear any financial costs on your behalf in relation to your participation in the Competition or during any stage thereof. 12.2 You acknowledge and agree that there are no fees paid by yourself in connection with your participation in the Competition. 13 General: 13.1 The Company is not obligated to use or develop the work of any participant or any winners. 13.2 The Company is not obligated to enter into a contract with the winners in the event the Company desires to use all or part of the winner’s work. 13.3 Participants have no right to appeal, contest or object to the results of the Competition. 13.4 The Company has the right to benefit from any idea, design, or model that was shared.

    13.2 The Company is not obligated to enter into a contract with the winners in the event the Company desires to use all or part of the winner’s work.

  • 14.1 These Terms and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or related to these Terms, its subject matter, or its formation are subject to the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be settled before the competent courts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
